Veterans Day events planned across Southern California

The Veterans Day Holiday celebration has left little time for celebration on the beaches and at the local parks.

The holiday falls on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2019, and it is observed around the world the same day as Memorial Day. There are not many events planned on the Fourth of July weekend.

While the Southern California residents are enjoying some time off from work, there are still a few events planned for the holiday to honor the men and women of the armed forces.

The city of Huntington Beach will be hosting a parade from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the City Hall. The parade will feature military veterans in military dress. The parade route will travel down Olympic Boulevard and will leave from the City Hall and circle through the city.

The Veterans Day Parade will also be held on the following streets: South Huntington Boulevard, East San Pedro Street, San Pedro Street, North Huntington Boulevard, Huntington Drive, Pacific Avenue, Rose Avenue, Rose Way, and Sunset Drive.

Also, the Huntington Beach Senior Center will be offering $10-per-person tickets for seniors to attend the event. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In other San Diego County events, the Veterans Day Parade is planned for the following streets and roads: Lincoln Street, Lincoln Street/U.S. Route 101, Lincoln and Franklin Street, Lincoln and La Gorce St.

The Veterans Day Parade will feature live entertainment on Veterans Day Saturday, Nov. 12, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the San Diego Veterans Memorial Building, located at 3200 Fairview St., in San Diego. The parade honors the veterans and active duty military who have served and given their lives in service to our country.

The San Diego Veterans Memorial Building is a city-owned building opened in 1925.
